Charles A. Dow, M.D.

Dr. Charles A. Dow attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was awarded membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then went on to complete a 5 year General Surgical residency at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. After completing his General Surgical residency, Dr. Dow was accepted to the Oklahoma University Health Science Center Department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery where he completed an additional 2 years of Cardiovascular Surgical training. He then received his board certification in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Dow is currently president of New Mexico Cardiovascular Associates, PC which he founded in 1996. He is also the founding member of the only Cardiac Surgical program in the southern state of New Mexico and has developed and established two separate open heart surgical programs at Mountain View Regional Hospital and Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. He was the founding member and chairman of the Cardiovascular Committee in the mid-90's. and in 1998, Dr. Dow was privileged to be named to the "Best Doctors in America" list by his peers. He has served as an Associate Clinical Professor at Texas Tech University in El Paso, Texas and has been involved in surgical resident teaching for many years. Some of his numerous past and present memberships include the El Paso Medical Society, SWHAP member, Texas Medical Society, New Mexico Medical Society, Aust Society, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons to name a few.

Dr. Dow currently sits on the Board of Regents at Mountain View Regional Hospital and remains an active leader in the surgical community. His interests include minimally invasive surgery, Off-pump surgery, mitral valve repairs, surgical arrythmia ablation procedures, vascular surgery, noninvasive vein treatments and non-ablative cosmetic laser skin treatments.

Gerald S. Weinstein, M.D.

Dr. Gerald S. Weinstein received his undergraduate education at Columbia University, where he graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He then graduated from New York University Medical School and did his General Surgery training at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, after which he did his Cardiac Surgery training at the Mid-America Heart Institute in Kansas City.

Before coming to Las Cruces, Dr. Weinstein practiced in New York City and in Pittsburgh. As Chief of Cardiac Surgery at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, Dr. Weinstein led the cardiac surgery program to the coveted distinction of being one of the 100 best Cardiac Surgery programs in the United States. He has served as President of the Pittsburgh Thoracic Society and has been a member of more than a dozen professional societies. In addition, he is an Invited Reviewer for the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and is the author of over 50 publications in scientific journals.
